Job Description: Sound-Board
Operator
The
position of Sound Board Operator is a run crew position, involving pre-show,
performance and after-show responsibilities.
Duties before Tech
Rehearsals:
1. Read the
script and become familiar with the production concept.
2. Assist
with Load-In as required by your 161/361/561 course requirements.
3. Attend
one or more orientation and level setting sessions held in preparation for the
tech rehearsals.
Duties during Technical
Rehearsals and Performances:
1. Attend
all technical rehearsals, preview and performances.
2. Sign-in
at the designated time, usually one hour prior to the start of rehearsal or
opening the house (20 minutes to curtain).
3. Check
that all sound, music, and intercom equipment is functioning properly
immediately after your signing in..
4. After
each performance gather and LOCK UP ALL PORTABLE EQUIPMENT.
5. Speak and
move about quietly in the booths and backstage areas.
6. Observe
smoking and beverage rules: Neither is
permitted ON or BACK stage
or in the
booths.
Clean-up Period:
1. Assist
the Sound Designer in the safe removal and return of all sound equipment during
the strike.
2. Return
all departmental equipment to its assigned storage location.
3. Return
all borrowed and rented equipment the first week-day following the final
performance. Have the loan or rental
agreement signed by the owner and return the signed loan sheet to the Sound TA.
4. After all
sound equipment has been stored and the booth cleaned and restored, join the
rest of the strike crew. One crew is not
finished until everyone is finished.
Line of Responsibility:
1. Your
immediate supervisor is the Sound Designer, followed by the Sound TA.
